Nagoya Station is the largest hub station not only in Aichi Prefecture but in the entire Chubu region. The Tokaido Main Line, the Chuo Main Line, the Kansai Main Line, the Higashiyama Line, the Sakura-dori Line and the Aonami Line as well as each and every Tokaido Shinkansens are available. Most tourists visiting Nagoya use this station.
There is a car rental service office in the underground shopping avenue ESCA which is connected to the Taiko dori-guchi (exit) of Nagoya Station. There are more in various locations near the Higashiyama Line’s surrounding area.
The Atsuta Shrine is an historical shrine of the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (sword) which is one of the Imperial Regalias of Japan. Atsuta Shrine is about 17 minutes, Nagoya Castle is about 10 minutes, Nagoya Dome is about 21 minutes and Higashiyama Zoo is about 20 minutes from the station via the express Highway. The Nagoya City Science Museum is the largest planetarium in the world. You can go to this museum on foot but it is less than 10 minutes if you use a car.
