Kofu Station is a primary station for Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The Chuo Main Line and the Minobu Line are available. There is a bronze statue of the Takeda Shingen in the station square. This station is a tourist spot for taking photographs especially for history enthusiasts.
There are several tourist attractions related to the Takeda Shingen around Kofu Station. It will be convenient to have a rental car to visit those places. There is a car rental service office next to the police station located in front of the south exit of the station. It is recommended to book a rental car in advance.
The legacy of the Takeda Family including Palaeography and Kacchu (Japanese traditional armor) are exhibited in the Takeda Shrine. The Takeda Shrine is about 10 minutes walk located straight from the station along the Takeda dori (street). The Shosen Gorge is about 30 minutes via prefectural road 104 and 7 from the Takeda Shrine along Takeda dori (street). Shosen Gorge is one of the greatest canyons in Japan.
The Fujikyu Line is available. Kawaguchiko Station is the gateway to Lake Kawaguchi which is one of the Fuji Five Lakes. You can overlook Mt. Fuji right in front of you from this station. Tourists visiting Mt. Fuji use this station as well.
There are many tourist attractions around Lake Kawaguchi. It is recommended to use a rental car when you travel around various sights. There is a car rental service office right in front of this station.
Lake Kawaguchi is about 10 minutes from the station. You can have fun riding a pleasure boat and also viewing the Upside-down Mt. Fuji which is a reflection of Mt. Fuji on Lake Kawaguchi. Fuji-Q Highland is a popular amusement park located close to this station. It takes about 8 minutes by car. You can drive up to the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji to start climbing. The 5th Station is about 40 minutes by car from Kawaguchiko Station along the Fuji Subaru Line (toll road) via prefectural road 707.
Fujisan Station is a primary station for Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Tourists including those who go to climb Mt. Fuji or go sightseeing in the surrounding area of Mt. Fuji use this station. Previously, the name of this station was Fujiyosida. It was renamed Fujisan Station in 2011. Available railways are the Otsuki Line and the Kawaguchiko Line operated by the Fujikyuko Line. This station is a hub station for Mt. Fuji tourism.
There is a car rental service office located 1 minute on foot from Fujisan Station. If you are planning to go to the Mt. Fuji 5th Station by car from Fujisan Station, it is recommended to rent a car at this service office. However, an advance booking is required if you travel during the peak season for climbing Mt. Fuji because is very crowded.
Mt. Fuji 5th Station is along Fuji Subaru Line (toll road) via National Route 139 and prefectural road 707. It takes about 42 minutes from Fujisan Station.
