Kofu Station is a primary station for Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The Chuo Main Line and the Minobu Line are available. There is a bronze statue of the Takeda Shingen in the station square. This station is a tourist spot for taking photographs especially for history enthusiasts.
There are several tourist attractions related to the Takeda Shingen around Kofu Station. It will be convenient to have a rental car to visit those places. There is a car rental service office next to the police station located in front of the south exit of the station. It is recommended to book a rental car in advance.
The legacy of the Takeda Family including Palaeography and Kacchu (Japanese traditional armor) are exhibited in the Takeda Shrine. The Takeda Shrine is about 10 minutes walk located straight from the station along the Takeda dori (street). The Shosen Gorge is about 30 minutes via prefectural road 104 and 7 from the Takeda Shrine along Takeda dori (street). Shosen Gorge is one of the greatest canyons in Japan.
