Car rental at Amami Airport
The only airport is in Amami Oshima, known as “Galapagos of East”. There are regular flights to Kagoshima and Fukuoka airports from the airport and it serves as the base airport in the Amami region. The distance from Kikai Airport on the island, next to Amami Oshima, is only 30 kilometers across the sea. If the weather is fine, you can see the scenery from Amami Airport to Kikai Airport by the naked eye. It takes about an hour by car from Amami Airport to Amami Mangrove Forest, and Amami Oshima as an island has many precious animals and plants, such as Amami rabbit, designated as a natural treasure.

Amami Airport Terminal Information
If you give your arrival flight in advance, the staff will wait in front of the Arrival Gate, so please go to the sales office by the shuttle bus, which stops in front of Terminal. If you do not give your arrival flight, you will need to contact the sales office via the Information Counter or by phone to make a transfer request.
