Scope and limit of compensation
If an accident occurs while using the rental car and causes damage to the company or a third party, the customer is responsible for compensating the damage.
The company provides the following insurance and compensation system to cover liabilities from accidents, but any amount exceeding the deductible and the maximum compensation limit must be paid by the customer.
Cases where insurance and compensation do not apply
The customer is fully liable for accidents occurring under the following circumstances:
- Failure to report the accident to the police (unable to obtain a police accident report).
- Failure to notify the company from the accident scene.
- Settling with the other party without the company's approval.
- Accident causes by unauthorized extension of the rental period.
- Accident caused by a driver not listed in the contract.
- Failure to wear a seatbelt while driving.
- Drunk driving.
- Driving without a valid license.
- Vehicle damage caused by theft.
- Accident occurring while exceeding the vehicle's seating capacity.
- Driving on beaches, riverbanks, forests, or any areas outside official roadways.
- Damage or corrosion caused by improper usage.
- Using the rental car for races, tests, or towing/pushing other vehicles.
- Accidents involving the customer's own vehicle or a vehicle managed by the customer.
- Mechanical failure due to operational mistakes.
- Damage caused to rental cars or signs inside the store.
- Damage to in-vehicle equipment.
- Scratches caused by tire chains, ski carriers, or other accessories.
- Tire punctures, damage, or loss of wheel caps.
- Violations of rental agreement terms.
- Accidents falling under exemptions in insurance policy terms.
- Accidents due to poor vehicle management.
- Repair costs within the deductible amount.
- Theft due to insufficient vehicle management.
Collision damage waiver plan
If you enroll in the liability waiver program at the time of reservation or contract signing, the deductible amount for property damage and vehicle compensation will be waived in the event of an accident, except in the following cases:
・Failure to report the accident to both the police and the company.
・Accidents where insurance payouts are not applicable.
・Accidents that violate the company's rental agreement terms.
・Accidents occurring during unauthorized rental period extensions.

Cases where the liability waiver program does not apply
Even if you have enrolled in the liability waiver program, you will still be responsible for the deductible amount if the accident results from the following serious traffic violations:
- Accidents caused by speeding.
- Accidents occurring when crossing the center line in a no-overtaking zone.
- Accidents caused by ignoring traffic lights.
- Accidents resulting from failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
- Accidents due to prohibited right turns, illegal U-turns, or entering a direction not permitted.
- Accidents deemed malicious or intentional.
- Pricing of all plans in Tabirai Car Rental includes collision damage waiver.
Customer liability in case of an accident
In case of an accident
- First, take emergency measures for any injured persons! (Call an ambulance, etc.)
- Move the accident vehicle to a safe location.
- Be sure to report the accident to the police.
(You will need to obtain an accident report. Failure to do so will result in your being ineligible for compensation, and you will be responsible for all costs.)
