Toyama Airport (Toyama Kitokito Airport) is the air gateway to Toyama Prefecture. This airport is a bit distant from the center of the city. Since public transportation is limited in this area, it is convenient to use a rental car.
The must-see sightseeing spot is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. You can enjoy the dynamic nature of the Northern Alps at 3000m altitude. Shirouma (Hakuba) mountain range is in the north of Shiroumadake and Tateyama Mountain Range. It is located at the northernmost of the Japan Alps and known as "Shirouma Sanzan (three mountains)" -- Shiroumadake (altitude 2932m), Shakushidake (altitude 2812m) and Hakuba Yarigatake (altitude 2903m). The Hida Mountains (Northern Alps) Tateyama mountain range (altitude 2926m) is Yakushi-dake and Tsurugi-dake located southeast of Toyama city, Toyama Prefecture. It is one of the tallest peaks along with Mt.Tate. It is an exquisite experience to drive and view these representative mountains of Japan.
