    The primary station for Shizuoka City

    Shizuoka Station is a primary station for Shizuoka City. The Tokaido Shinkansen and the Tokaido Main Line are available. Kodama and Hikari are the only available Shinkansen. The Nozomi shinkansen does not stop at this station. The surrounding area of this station is downtown and there are many commercial facilities.

    Since many tourist attractions in Shizuoka City are surrounded by rich natural beauty, it is ideal to travel by rental car. There are several car rental service offices located along Ishida kaido road from the south exit of Shizuoka Station.

    The scenery from the Satta toge (mountain pass) is a beautiful contrast between Mount Fuji and the Suruga Bay. Satta toge (mountain pass) is about 40 minutes along National Route 1. Toro Park is about 10 minutes from the station. You can feel history at Toro Park where you can see Tateanashiki-jukyo (pit dwellings) and Takakura-soko (storehouse raised above the ground). The Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art is about 20 minutes from the station. You can see Rodin's masterpieces at this museum.

    Mishima Station is a major station located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The Tokaido Shinkansen, the Tokaido Main Line, and the Izuhakone Railway Sunzu Line are available. JR station building itself is a remarkable view. This station was built in the image of Mount Fuji and the Mishima Taisha (shrine).

    It is convenient to use a rental car if you are planning to go sightseeing to towns surrounded by rich nature in Mishima City in addition to the historical sites. There are several car rental service offices outside the south exit of JR Mishima Station. It is recommended to rent a car at this location before starting the tourism.     Hamamatsu Castle is a popular tourist attraction of Hamamatsu City. This castle was established by Ieyasu Tokugawa. Hamamatsu Castle is about 8 minutes drive from the station along National Route 257. There are collections of materials regarding the Battle of Mikatagahara at Saigagake Museum. Drive toward Hime-kaido (road) from Hamamatsu Castle to go to The Saigagake Museum. You can stop by at Lake Hamana to ride the tour boat on the way. This route is one of the popular driving routes.
