    Nagano Station is a hub station in Nagano City which is the capital of Nagano Prefecture. The Hokuriku Shinkansen, the Shin'etsu Main Line, the Kita-Shinano Line and Nagano Line are available. Nagano Station is also known for the beautiful night view of Zenko-ji temple's main gate and is visited by many tourists on their way to go sightseeing in Nagano Prefecture.

    Although there are many railways available at Nagano Station, it is ideal to use a rental car if you are planning to go sightseeing. There are car rental service offices in various locations including on the left of the Zenkoji Exit and also near the East Exit.

    The closest interchange to Nagano Station is Nagano IC or the Suzaka Nagano Higashi IC. Zenko-ji temple, Joyama Park and the Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum are about 10 minutes from Nagano Station via Nagano Odori road. Togakushi Ski Area is popular for its snow quality also known as the Magical powder snow. The Togakushi Ski Area is about 46 minutes via the Togakushi Bird Line (toll road) and prefectural road 36.

    Matsumoto Station is the heart of Matsumoto city. There are many tourist attractions including the national treasure Matsumoto Castle, Nawate-dori (shopping district) and the the Kaichi School Museum which is an Important Cultural Property. There are many commercial facilities and hotels around this station. Most tourists visiting Matsumoto City use this station.

    If you are planning to go sightseeing from Matsumoto Station it is ideal to use a rental car. There is a car rental service office next to the police station located 100m to the right from the east exit of the station and also there is one located near the Alps Guchi (exit).

    Matsumoto Castle is about 7 minutes northeast along National Route 143 From Matsumoto Station. Shirahone Onsen is designated as a national health spa. Shirahone Onsen is about an hour and 10 minutes via National Route 158 and prefectural road 300 from the station.

    It is recommended to use a rental car in order to travel comfortably because many tourist destinations in Chino City are mountainous. There are several car rental service offices around the west exit of the station.

    Yatsugatake is about an hour and 10 minutes from Chino Station along prefectural road 188. Tateshina Plateau is about 32 minutes along National Route 299. Lake Shirakaba is about 30 minutes via Venusline (road) and National Route 152. Kurumayama Plateau is about 5 minutes by car from Lake Shirakaba. It is recommended to travel during the day in order to avoid driving on dark mountain roads at night.
