    Kyoto Station is an entrance to Kyoto City where many tourists visit all year around. All Tokaido Shinkansen are available. Available conventional lines are the Tokaido Main Line, the San'in Main Line, the Nara Line and the JR Kyoto Line. Kyoto Station is used as a base for Kyoto tourism.

    There are many car rental service offices in various locations around Kyoto Station including at the Karasuma-Chuo Exit. Although many railways are available, it is convenient to travel by rental car if you are planning to go sightseeing from Kyoto Station.

    Nijo Castle is about 13 minutes, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion (the Kinkaku-ji) is about 24 minutes and Arashiyama is about 30 minutes by car from Kyoto Station along prefectural road 29. These are very popular tourist attractions. Although the tourism season brings heavy traffic, it can become an enjoyable experience because you will be able to see the landscapes of Kyoto City leisurely while driving.

    Amanohashidate is located in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is one of most scenic spots in Japan along with Matsushima and Miyajima. Amanohashidate is the second most popular tourist attraction in Kyoto Prefecture after Kyoto City. There are many tourist attractions including Chion-ji Temple which is known for power spot and the Former Mikami Family Residence which is an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

    It is ideal to travel by rental car in order to fully enjoy Amanohashidate sightseeing. Although there is a car rental service office near Amanohashidate Station, it might be more convenient to rent a car at a major station such as Kyoto Station.

    From Kyoto Station to Amanohashidate is about 1 hour and 47 minutes via Expressway. It takes about 2 hours from Kobe Station and is about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Itami Airport. It takes about 1 hour and 13 minutes from Kounotori Tajima Airport which is the closest airport to Amanohashidate.

Nagaokakyo Station is the primary station for Nagaokakyo City. However, the areas surrounding Nagaoka-Tenjin Station are bustling districts.

    It is recommended to rent a car at either Nagaokakyo Station or Nagaoka-Tenjin Station when you go sightseeing in Nagaokakyo City. This city has numerous places where you can enjoy natural beauty all year round.

    Shoryuji Castle is about 7 minutes, the Nagaoka Tenman-gu (shrine) is about 10 minutes, the Komyo-ji (temple) is about 15 minutes and the Mausoleum of Emperor Tsuchimikado is about 30 minutes from Nagaokakyo Station. Since all these sights are close to the station you can enjoy Nagaokakyo City in one day.
