Hakodate Airport is located along the shore, it is approximately 10km south from the heart of Hakodate city. It is easy access and the airport is very convenient in order to enjoy Hokkaido sightseeing. There is Trappistine Convent which is Japan’s very first convent and it is still being used today. It takes about 5 minutes by a rental car. A portion of Vestibular is open to the public and the building is exotic and you can feel the air of silence. In the garden, there are sacred portraits of Joan of Arc, Archangel Michael and Theresa etc., and the museum.
Yunokawa Onsen also known as Hakodate-no-Okuzashiki is near by the airport. This area is one of the most historic Onsen resorts in Hokkaido. Speaking of Onsen, there are a lot of natural hot springs inside of Hakodate city that you can enjoy with the cost of the sento fee. The quality of the spring water as we as the Onsen temperature are quite different by each Onsen. There are plenty of Onsen facilities with a variety of Onsen such as Outdoor spa or bedrock bathing or Utase-yu (Waterfall bathing) and also restaurants.
