Kokura Station can be called the gateway of Kyushu, and is located at Kitakyushu city Fukuoka prefecture. Not only the conventional lines but also Sanyo-Shinkansen arrive at this station. It is also is the starting point station of many lines toward Kyushu.
Kokura Castle is located within walking distance from Kokura Station. This Castle is known for the vestiges of the era that once flourished as a cornerstone of land and sea. It still is supporting the city as a symbol, today. [Tanga Ichiba] is a Kitakyushu’s kitchen and there are a lot of fresh products of Buzen and Kanmon in the Ichiba (market). Tourists can enjoy it even just by looking at.
It is convenient to use a rental car if you want to travel around the gateway of Kyushu the Moji Port (Mojiko) area. There are many sightseeing spots around the area. The vestiges of those days still remain today in the retro buildings and streets, the Kanmon-kaikyo which is a bridge between Honshu and Kyushu, Mekari Shiokaze Ichiba (market) at Mojiko etc. If you use a rental car to travel those places, you can take your time and enjoy the tour while driving. [Mekari Park Observatory 2] overlooking the Kanmon-kaikyo (Straits), and the large panorama landscape of the cities of Mojiko and Shimonoseki spread right in front of your eyes. You can enjoy the night view as well. Kanmon Bridge and Kaikyō Yume Tower will be illuminated at night.
